Aerosoul was born in 1998, inspired primarily by the burgeoning underground Jungle, Breakbeat and Hip-Hop scene, of which its founder Leke Adesoye is a huge enthusiast. London born Leke, trained at the London College of fashion. As a Drum n Bass, Hip-Hop fanatic, he sought to capture that energy by incorporating his passion for music with fashion, hence the foundation of Leke’s early Aerosoul tee shirt designs, such as the now infamous two decks “Junglist Movement” T-shirt.
For 10 years Aerosoul has brought quality street wear to a discerning market. From humble beginnings, the label has evolved from a favourite on the UK club scene to an internationally recognised brand. From the outset Leke employed both legendary and up-and-coming names from the urban music scene to represent the brand. These models have included: Omar, Roots Manuva, Don:e, Damage, Rodney P, Skitz, Zion I, Ty, A Guy Called Gerald, Normski, Paradox, A.I, Alix Perez, Bryan G and Ill Logic & Raf. But in truth, the brand has been rocked by a diverse array of celebrities from dnb technician and Hospital records head honcho ‘London Elektricity’ to diva model ‘Sophie Anderson’. Proving Aerosoul’s broad appeal to all genres of music from indie to commercial. The Junglist Movement design took on its own momentum and infamy when it was featured in the hit 1998 British film “Human Traffic”.
More designs were quickly added to the Aerosoul portfolio. Leke expanded his collection to include the Women’s wear line “Soulero Sista” (feminine wear 4 urban livin) bringing a much-needed feminine dimension to UK streetwear. The later addition of A.S.Xtreme sports was inspired by the skating and snowboarding fraternity. But worn by dedicated armchair athletes alike. Incorporating new print technologies including raised high-build gel prints, and new sweat shirt designs.
Aerosoul clothing range consists of t shirts, hooded sweatshirts, record bags, girls tee shirts and more.
Throughout Aerosoul’s history the response from the media has been hugely positive. The label has received expansive coverage, features in publications and numerous radio and television coverage. Such as the BBC, MTV, Trouble, Radio1, Ministry of Sound, Drum & Bass Arena, Time Out, ES Mag, J17, Knowledge Mag, FHM and Front to name a few.
Leke also continues to pursuit his thriving DJ career, and remains a much sought after guest both in the UK and Europe. His most recent stints have included DJ sets for Phatfarm, Rocawear, Journey Shoes and Make-Poverty-History launch parties. Aerosoul ltd. recently compiled its first music compilation - “Soul:Control” featuring exclusive tracks from the Aerosoul sponsored artist rota. Aerosoul itself is sponsored by Acupuncture footwear and Kirk original eyewear.
